4 new Facebook updates for 2022

Facebook Update #1: Subscriptions for Creators.

It doesn't have to be the first on our list of Facebook updates; Which were launched in 2020.

But to summarize what they are, Facebook says, “Subscriptions allow your audience to increase their support for you and your work.

You receive consistent, predictable monthly income, and your customers become easily identifiable, helping you connect more deeply with your audience.

Thank your audience by deciding to add additional benefits as part of your membership, such as customer lifetime only, special discounts, or customer groups only.

Build a pro experience that's authentic to your brand, style, and community!"

How To Get More Facebook Video Views

Now the update is threefold:

a. Makers can now make and utilize customized connections to advance memberships.

b. Creators are getting access to new metrics to help them better understand:

how much are you earning

the source of each sale, and

An estimate of how much they will have to pay in taxes and fees.

C. Creators can now download an email list of new members who have agreed to share this information.

Now that's huge, especially given all the iOS updates in the last year.

And that's because it means you can take all of your customers who have agreed to share their email...

…and store your information in whatever email marketing software you use.

Thus, giving you the flexibility to contact them and enter the market outside the Facebook platform.

So where Facebook now lacks tracking, you can get it back by downloading your customer's email list.

All without paying for a lead generation campaign.

Facebook Update:- Facebook removed a lot of targeting options.

Now if you saw our Facebook Ads Tips for 2022 Posts, you already knew this.

Tips For Using Facebook to Promote Your Business

But what is happening is that in January this year, Facebook started the process of removing certain targeting options.

social media

Facebook said, "Starting January 19, 2022, we will remove detailed targeting options that pertain to topics that people may consider sensitive...

... such as choices referencing causes, organizations, or public figures relating to health, race or ethnicity, political affiliation, religion, or sexual orientation."

So if you had a really successful Facebook ad campaign in 2021, the same targeting option that made that ad successful may no longer be available.

Now some of you might be thinking, "Eh, it really doesn't look like it's going to affect me."

But keep in mind that it's not just 20 or 30 targeting options being removed, it's thousands.

To clarify further, Facebook said:

"It is vital to take note of that the interest focusing on choices we are eliminating is not in view of actual qualities or individual attributes of individuals ...

But instead on things like how people interact with the content on our platform. ,

So they give an example that you wouldn't be able to target people interested in "lung cancer awareness" or "world diabetes day".

The amount of targeting options being removed is of concern to business owners who rely on Facebook ads for sales.

So if you're a little worried and don't know what to do next, read our Facebook advertising tips post as we tell you what to do next given all of Facebook's advertising changes.

Facebook Update #3: Facebook is expanding consumer advertising controls.

About permits you to see fewer promotions.

Currently, Facebook users can choose to see fewer ads focused on politics, parenting, alcohol, and pets.

But Facebook said, "Starting next year, we'll give people control over other types of advertising content, including gambling and weight loss."

So if your business falls into any of these industries, you need to:

a. start figuring out how to navigate it in your ad, and

b. Possibly explore some channels other than Facebook so your eggs aren't in a basket if you haven't already.

But we'd say that if your business falls into one of those industries, don't panic completely — just yet.

Because if people are opting out of seeing such ads, it can honestly be more helpful to your business than not.

And we said that because it's excluding unqualified people who were never going to convert anyway.

Facebook Update #4: Changes in the use and cost of Facebook advertising.

We are now at the bottom of our list of Facebook updates. So it's a bit more of a prediction and observation than an update per se.

But we're including it because we think it's important and it can affect the way you advertise and grow your business.

Because of all the iOS tracking updates, and therefore Facebook updates a lot of business owners are either opting out of the Facebook advertising strategy altogether or are going with a different strategy.

And by different strategies, we mean a Facebook-centric strategy.

We talk about it in that Facebook advertising tips post we just mentioned.

But while essentially, Facebook can still track everything within its platform, it's just all third-party tracking that suddenly stopped with the iOS update.

This means, instead of sending people to your website to get sales or leads…

…you can pivot your ad campaigns to collect leads within Facebook or ask people to check out natively within Facebook.

But like we said, not everyone is doing it.

Facebook says cyberattack exposed sensitive information

Some people are not seeing the sales they want and instead of pivoting, they are turning off Facebook ads altogether.

And as a result, we've seen some fluctuations in Facebook advertising costs over the past year or two.

But we feel like iOS updates have been released for a while now and things are starting to settle down a bit…

... we'll see the cost of Facebook advertising come back in the evening.
