So today, we're going to show you how to upload YouTube videos and also just tell you which button to click...

... we're also going to show you some little tricks and things you need to do in the meantime so that once your video is published, it actually gets a few views.

How to Upload YouTube Videos

How to Upload YouTube Videos from Desktop

Step 1: If you haven't already created a YouTube account, you'll need to do so first. An easier way is to simply sign in using your Gmail.

From there, you need to decide whether you want to upload videos and create your channel from your personal account or if you want it to be a company account.

We are going to skip the tutorial on how to create a company YouTube channel because that's why most of you haven't clicked on this post.

Step 2: Once you are all logged in and you have selected the correct account, you are going to hit on the Create icon.

Then click on "Upload Video" and then the opened file window will appear.

You can either hit the blue Select Files button, or you can relocate a video document as we will do here.

Now we're just selecting a random video for this tutorial, but you'll obviously want to choose a video...

…that you have put a lot of thought into, intentionally planned, and built to deliver value to your audience with your target audience in mind.

Once it is uploaded, a screen like this will pop up which will prompt you through these 5 sections of the process.

Step 3: On this first page, we have your title, which can be up to 100 characters long. as well as your details. Which can be up to 5,000 characters. Up

You'll need to utilize the title to complete three things:

Include the keyword you want to rank.

Capture the audience's attention so they want to click.

Make it clear to the audience what the video is about.

Don't get so clicky with #2 that #3 gets lost.

For details, you might want to use this space to do some things:

Give viewers a quick summary of the video and be sure to include your keywords again in the first two lines.

Give them a call to action to subscribe to your channel and hit the notification bell so they get updated when you upload a new video.

Include links to any other related videos they may see on your YouTube channel, whether it's related to the topic of this video you're uploading or your top videos in general.

You can include a link to your website, but limit your description to only 1 external URL.

Easy way to make videos viral on youtube

YouTube wants to keep people on its platform, so generally, the algorithm likes you more when you don't link to the website.

Include timestamps that also contain relevant keywords as this can help you find them on Google's search engines other than YouTube.

Plus they are audience friendly only, helping them find the information they need.

From there, you'll want to upload a thumbnail. You can in fact pick a screen capture from the video as a thumbnail.

But, we recommend creating and uploading a video that does pretty much the same thing as your title.

And that is, to grab the attention of the audience and make them click. Here's our tutorial on how to create YouTube thumbnails to help you get started.

And then, you can add your videos to a playlist if you plan to group similar topics together…… which we would recommend in order to create binge-able content for viewers and keep them hooked to more of your channel. to be saved for a while.

If you don't know how to make a YouTube playlist, you can read our post about it further.

Under "Audience," you'll need to choose whether your video is made for children. And to clarify, it's not asking if your video is inappropriate.

social media

It simply means do you want your video to reach the kids.

We usually say "no it ain't" to our videos because kids aren't our target market, so we don't want our organic thoughts to be wasted on them.

You can take this a step further and limit your videos to only people who are 18 and older.

Automatic chapters are where you can let YouTube add automatic timestamps.

But we usually do this in the description itself as we mentioned because we want the chapters to hold specific keywords.

Beneath that, you'll have to add labels to your video. Think of your tags as keywords.

What is a standard YouTube license?

Think of all the relevant search terms that people might search for that you hope will find this video you're uploading, and add them as tags.

Now, throughout this tutorial, you've probably seen little blue tools to help you with each step.

This is the VidIQ plugin tool that we use every single day to help us optimize our channels and videos.

If you want to know more about this tool, you can read our YouTube keyword research post.

But otherwise, you won't see this tool on your screen when you're uploading a YouTube video.

After that, you have a lot of optional or standard features that transparently we usually don't mess with like:

Language: Hindi,

date and place of recording,

licensing and distribution, and

Shorts sample.

But you can set those features as per your choice.

How to increase subscribers on YouTube?

Below that you'll want to select the appropriate category and choose whether or not you want the comments, likes, and dislikes to appear on your videos.

And then finally on this screen, if needed, you can set up a fundraiser to go with your video.

Once you get to this screen you want, you can hit the blue Next button.

Step 4: The next screen is Monetization.

Now in this tutorial, the example video we uploaded was from when we were shown NBC's Profit.

So, YouTube took note of that and is not offering us monetization due to copyright laws.

But in most cases, you will be uploading your own original content without copyright issues…

...and so you will choose what type of ads you want to display on your video to earn money just by uploading it.

social media

You must have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 clock hours in the past year to be eligible for monetization.

So if you have less than that, you probably won't see the screen in your process.

But if you've reached that limit, you can apply for YouTube's partner program to start monetizing.

Once you have set those options correctly, you can press the blue Next button.

Now, before we get into this video element screen, just a quick reminder that you can now enroll in our new social media advertising training course.

To dominate Social Media Advertising then this course is for you.

Stage 5: Now on the Video Elements screen, you can add captions, and end screen, and cards.

We suggest you use all 3.

Add cards whenever you reference another video in your video, and add an end screen at the end of your video to let people know more about your content.

You need to keep individuals on your channel, that is the objective.

Once you've added everything, press the blue Next button.

Step 6: The Check screen is where YouTube checks your video for issues that may restrict its visibility or monetization.

And then, gives you the opportunity to fix those issues before publication.

So as you can see, it's flagging us because we uploaded a copyrighted video.

But it's a great screen to double-check everything to make sure nothing is going to cause you unnecessary problems.

We once uploaded what we thought was royalty-free audio, and this screen showed us it wasn't.

So we were able to fix it before publishing.

social media

Once you are done with this screen, click the blue Next button in the last screen, Visibility section.

Step 7: You can make your video public, unlisted or private.

Private means that only you and the people you choose can see the video.

Unlisted means anyone with the video link can watch the video.

And public means everyone can watch the video. If you're publishing it publicly now, you can set it to Premiere immediately.

If you're scheduling your video in advance, you can set it to premiere regularly.

YouTube Premiere lets you and your watchers watch and experience another video together continuously.

Create buzz for your premiere by sharing the Page you're watching so viewers can set reminders, chat, and comment.”

It allows you to talk to your audience in real-time after the video is published to live chat.

And your subscriber will get notifications about the video leading up to the publication which usually helps to increase the views.

Make sure you've got everything on this screen exactly as you want it before you hit the blue save button...

... because even if you publish now, you can go back and edit some things, but it will be there.

People may have already noticed the mistakes you corrected an hour later.

But once you are ready you can hit the blue Save or Publish button.
